How buying shoes and ticketing solutions have more in common than you may think!
How many pairs of shoes do you own? Perhaps one for every type of occasion?
Size, width, style, colour, price, function, occasion, comfort, brand, there are so many things to consider.
So, what has this got to do with ticketing?
When you look at the UK visitor attraction market, there are well over 25 ticketing/CRM suppliers supporting the sector. This can be a minefield for those starting to research the market with very little expertise/experience.
Googling ‘ticketing suppliers to visitor attractions’, is as useless an exercise as it would be if you wanted a new pair of shoes and googled ‘shoes for a holiday’
One of the mistakes attractions can make when they start looking at what options are available, is initially focusing too much on features and functionality, before considering their long term business objectives.
It might not be the smartest purchase, if for example I decided to buy a pair of red suede heels if I didn’t firstly review coordinating items. Likewise, buying a pair of shoes similar to those uncomfortable ones that have been barely worn may not be that wise.
In ticketing procurement terms, i.e the grass may not always be greener it may simply be a different shade of green if you change solutions without due care and diligence.
I wanted to leave you with these top tips to consider;
- Understand why you need to replace your shoes
- Work out what you might need for the future, i.e what your future plans are and the type of lifestyle you will have.
- Look in your wardrobe and consider the other elements that affect your purchasing process
