Technology, lets not make it a language barrier!
Technology, let’s reduce the language barrier!
At ReWork Consulting we use user-friendly and appropriate language, to ensure conversations are accessible to all. Meaning that everyone can be totally immersed in the conversation and working towards the same goals.
When Apple pioneered user friendly technology designed to be used by anyone, of any age, it opened up a world of possibilities. However, one thing that remains a barrier to further understanding of technology is the language that’s being used.
One of my frustrations in the years I’ve worked in this sector, especially around ticketing software solutions, are the use of acronyms. I know we all use them, I even started off this post with one, but I believe the problem lies if we use them without understanding our audience. They can create unnecessary confusion, have the ability to create a disconnect between you and the listener and therefore create a barrier for learning.
I recently attended an event on Web3, a subject I had very limited knowledge of compared to some co-workers, who work on NFT, Bitcoin, AI, Saas projects.
If you’re reading this and you’re already partly lost, I have made my point.
Acronyms do the exact opposite for the language of tech, as Apple intended for their designs.
At ReWork we will always start by identifying wha subject level our audience is entering at. We do this through a series of purpose driven conversations, fact finding questionnaires and group workshops. We ensure there isn’t an over reliance on group discussion in the early stages of our client relationship, to enable individuals to answer freely without the pressure from peers to be correct, and enable us to confidently to take discussions forwards
We help to improve the level of ticketing knowledge of our clients, to gain their confidence in us as the experts, and their ability to be involved in wider discussions across the whole business.
Once we have these tools in place, and used consistently, the whole team can be involved in every step of the project, creating greater cohesion and greater opportunity for maximising their long term ticketing partnership.
