Frictionless user journeys

The software industry is currently overwhelmed with the buzzword ‘frictionless.’ 

Everyone wants to provide their customers with a frictionless purchase experience. A seamless checkout system, or a seamless ecommerce/online ticketing site, etc.

In the world of software development, it means ‘interface design’. 

As part of the user journey, it refers particularly to ‘frictionless.’ 

What is the most significant annoyance you face while using software? 

Think of any software you use, whether it’s a website, an app, or a program on your computer. 

Is it a glitchy experience, poor navigation. So you’re never sure how to move from one place to another, or it takes too many steps? 

Is it poor on-screen design, so everything is cluttered and interferes with your ability to do what you want? 

Frictionless software design is all about eliminating these barriers. 

A fantastic tip which Lauren James shared at the recent Ticketing Professionals Conference, was to remember that the User Journey is different for everyone. This depends on so many factors, but the best way you can test it, is to put it in the hands of a variety of users. Preferably those that aren’t familiar with your offering. 

So whether you’re considering changing your CRM, Epos, Online Ticketing, Ecommerce, membership systems. Or looking at ways to improve your current user journeys, it’s worth considering;

What can we do to remove some of the barriers that get in the way of users getting from A to B as efficiently as possible.
