Choosing a project team
People sit at the heart of everything we do at ReWork.
We believe it’s the people, that bring the ReWork Process to life and can so often be the difference between a good project and an outstanding one.
Choosing the best ticketing procurement teams increases collaboration within an attraction and helps to remove frustrations that prevent the business from moving forwards.
So how do we go about choosing the right team….
And why does it matter so much?
ReWork has led a whole breadth of projects, from attractions with no internal project management support, to those with huge project teams and multiple contractors and stakeholders.
Through all these projects, the key to achieving key objectives has been the collaboration between different areas of the business, and early ‘buy-in’ to support successful long-term ticketing partnerships.
Looking beyond the obvious and into the future will help shape the team!
Look for the right mix of people
If for example, the project is weighted too heavily on marketing needs, without a balanced view of customer satisfaction or operational/financial reconciliation. Not only will you have some pretty unhappy team members, but it will be much harder to develop your business, resulting in slower results.
Most of us that have worked in the sector for any amount of time, will be familiar with the age-old debate between marketing and operational elements of an attraction.
Before online ticketing, it used to be collating customer data at the front desk, versus reducing queues.
Since the increase in online bookings across the attractions sector, a lack of collaboration between marketing/ticketing/operational aspects of the business can often be evident in the customer’s online journeys.
How many people have used websites, which look great, but the ‘book now’ button is hidden behind huge amounts of copy, with multiple clicks to make a simple purchase?
The reason I raise this particular example is that it highlights the disconnect between two areas of the business.
In the recent Visitor Attraction Website Report 34% of those asked didn’t know which ticketing systems their attraction used.
As ticketing consultants, it’s our responsibility to approach ticketing/CRM procurement projects with a balanced approach. This means the right people must be in the room when discussing objectives, outcomes, and problems.
You know your team better than anyone. So when you’re putting forward your suggested project team, it’s pertinent to consider whether they have the following qualities;
- people person
- good communicator
- reliable
- integrity
- leader qualities
- experience
If you’re a museum, gallery, historic house and garden, zoo, or aquarium, and are considering managing a software procurement project alone, bringing together key departments as early as possible, will help shape the success of the project.
If you’d rather have help with this type of project, to save time and money in your critical ticketing/CRM/Epos investment, then please get in touch, we’d love to help!
